Actually Whitens Teeth! Recommended! - My family has been using Listerine Whitening MouthWash Pre-Brush Rinse for 10 months or so, and we are very happy with the results. It is important to follow the directions and remember that you have to brush AFTER using this mouthwash. We have noticed significantly whiter teeth on my teenage daughter and me. I am reasonably sure that this is not just due to brushing since these habits haven t really changed.None of us have noticed a film in the mouth, sores, or loss of taste as some other reviewers have reported. Note sure if we are just lucky or doing something different. So, for a product that works better than expected (with noticeable results), this is recommended!

Leaves teeth feeling really clean - I ve used this product for several months and I really like how clean it leaves my teeth. It does take some getting used to --you brush after you rinse with Listerine Whitening and there is more foaming then I ve ever had (initially some tingling but that went away after about a week of using). My son puts his retainer into a cap-full before he brushes his retainer. He loves how it foams up and then his toothbrush is more foamy as he s brushing his retainer. I ve gotten him to use this rinse as well and his dentist said he really likes the improvement in his over all dental care. I then decided to try the Crest Whitening rinse as it was slightly cheaper (Crest is not a pre-rinse). While the Crest mouth wash was fine as a regular rinse/germ killer, my teeth did not feel as clean as when I used the Listerine. I didn t see huge differences in whitening from either product and I think I understand why now: Good Housekeeping Dec 2008 issue states that whitening mouth washes are not going to provide huge results, but are good for mild surface stains which I guess I don t have.

Hmm, wouldnt buy again. - I bought this thinking it would be a great way to whiten teeth without trays or any dangerous teeth bleach. Well the first day I used it there was no stinging on my gums, but I did feel a strange burning sensation upon my tongue. I thought since I didn t use mouthwash my taste buds just weren t used to any type of mouthwash.Okay, so I begin brushing and things seem to be doing okay, there is foaming and my mouth feels fresh and clean. A few hours later I notice there is a slimy filmy feeling between my teeth and cheek. Honest to God I thought my gums had peeled off. Its disgusting, and I absolutely hate that feeling plus I do not think having your mouth tissues peel away is such a good thing. As for my tongue, I didn t lose any taste or sensations it just got sore on the tip and in the back. I noticed it especially when I ate something warm or spicy.I did try to work with this mouthwash, I tried watering it down but that would defeat the purpose of using the mouthwash in the first place. I tried brushing off the film to no avail, hours later.... there it was with avengence. It does do what it says it will do, whiten teeth in a very simple way with rinsing for about 60 seconds. I wouldn t necessarily recommend this to anyone, unless they had issues with other teeth whitening items. This would be the safest way, except it makes your mouth/gums peel off slightly and leaves a slimy film.**Happy teeth whitening.

Did leave strange film but has been fine, brush the film off - I m not sure what all this crazy stuff about loss of taste and feeling in the mouth is, maybe a lot of people are having an allergic reaction? I have been using this product for a year, at first there was a strange residue it left behind, but that slowly went away as I continued to use it. Understand this is a PRE-BRUSH RINSE, you are supposed to brush your teeth thoroughly AFTER using it, which gets most of the nasty film off. I m not sure if this has helped keep my teeth white or if I ve just been better about brushing my teeth, but it is a decent product and I will continue to use it off and on.

Scary Side Effects - I had the same exact thing happen to me. I first used this a few days ago and lost all taste sensation in my mouth. Then, to add to it, the skin on my gums starts flaking off. I called listerine to find out if this is a normal side effect and they had apparently never heard of this before, even though I ve seen hundreds of complaints about various mouthwashes when I googled it, Listerine Whitening Pre-Brush rinse included. So, for my flaky gums and loss of taste I m getting a $6 check in the mail. That s nice. I understand this doesn t happen to most people, but I still think it should be considered a possible side effect with every mouthwash.
